At the last moment, Eric Saarinen, son of Eero Saarinen and the co-producer and director of photography for the documentary "Eero Saarinen: The Architect Who Saw the Future" agreed to attend ’s special screening of the film at the Eero- and Eliel-designed in Minneapolis on April 24, 2018.
Shown to a nearly standing-room-only crowd, followed by a sneak-peek at Eric’s next film, which will focus on his grandfather Eliel, the screening was an immense success.
The evening began with tours of the Eliel-designed sanctuary, followed by wine, bread and spreads, and pre-film socializing in the Eero-designed education wing’s gymnasium. While noshing, guests were able to meet and chat with Eric, members of Christ Church Lutheran and ǿ MN members.
Following the film, Eric talked about his relationship with his father, how the film brought him a new appreciation for Eero’s work ethic and creativity, and his interest in advancing his work with a film about his grandfather’s architecture.
After the Q&A, guests retired to the period-perfect lounge where Eric spoke about the church’s architecture, his family’s legacy and modern architecture with numerous guests.
